    Well, Honda spare parts disappointed me. There is no longer a fuel pump replacement for this motor. Does anyone have any idea on replacing the diaphragm instead of replacing the total fuel pump? Let me know if there’s a way to source a solution for this. Thanks.

    I’ll look at that again. It is a cam drive for this fuel pump. That’s on the inside of the crankshaft chamber “shiny piston-like piece”. I’ve ordered the new pump. $100 when all it probably needs is the diaphragm but there could be a wear spot on the back piece or a lube. Thx again for your...

    Thank you. Yes I did the vent cap, fuel line, primer bulb and check valve and quick connector exactly like you describe. Appreciate the link for the new pump and too bad a rebuild kit is not available. Take care and thx again.

    Spin the prop manually and the gear box will/should disengage. 👍

    If you buy it from a dealer they will set the motor up for idle and fuel air mixture if you have performance problems. So you should not have to worry about it. I have a Honda 5hp giving me issues at the moment but it’s 26 years old.

    The 5hp kicker stalls once underway on slow/low rpms. I believe it’s a fuel delivery issue. Cleaned carb, bowl, jets needle…. Cleaned fuel line, changed inline filter and checked and cleaned fuel pickup in portable tank. Nothing terrible or obvious was found. Run fresh rec gas non-ethanol too...
