    Thanks everyone for your help with this one. It was the plastic Venturi which had fallen into the engine . Just trying to work out the least invasive way to get it out ?

    So flywheel pulled off no problem. However Im no further forward. Surely being able to turn it 180 degrees one way then back again must mean something ?? Surely I don't have to dismantle the whole engine ??

    Trying to remove the flywheel. Is the nut R hand or L hand ?

    OK thanks yes it was running hot and in fact the owner melted the top of the water pipe plastic flange where it connects with the powerhead. No noises before shutting down and as I said it turns freely unto 180 degrees so its not seized.

    Thanks by hand the starter rope system I removed to exclude an issue with that. So I’m simply gripping the red flywheel by hand

    Scotland. It was running fine 3 weeks ago. I was just replacing the water impeller so this happened on reassembly. Feels like its jamming on something, v strange

    Hi thanks so the powerhead is now off and the plugs out. I can only turn the flywheel 180 degrees either direction ??

    Thanks yes it’s a 9.8 hp . It wouldn’t turn over when I had the power head off

    Hi Ive been doing some work on my mercury 110. having put the powerhead back on I now find I can't turn the engine over at all. Completely locked. Ive checked the gear shifter position and removed the plugs but its completely solid ?? Any ideas please ? Jon
