    Grey tube with red plastic tip

    Does anyone know what this is? I was replacing my throttle and shift cables on my Mercury 150 and when I was putting everything back together I noticed this hanging there. I wasn't sure if I might have dislodged it. I also found a spring and rubber top and wasn't sure if that went on the end...
