    1973 85 hp model #853931 starter issues

    My starter was crankly too slowly to start....so....: I have put a new starter in, I have put new battery cables in, I have checked all electrical connections, I have charged the battery well. It was working great for a while and now it is back to cranking too slowly to start. Ideas?

    85 hp evinrude trouble starting

    My 1973 85 hp evinrude (model #853931) is not starting easily. Once it is warmed up it starts fine. I have to use starting fluid to get it to start. I have changed the spark plugs and have run carb cleaner through the carb. I have not taken the carb out and cleaned it.

    85 hp evinrude -

    I have an older 85 hp evinrude. Last evening while cruising, I completely lost my forward motion. The engine runs but does not go into gear at all. Not a mechanic, so I don't even know where to start.
