    Are you sure? from what i can tell, the only water pump on a mercruiser 4.3l is the impeller in the sterndrive.

    This looks great! My only concern is if this will damage the impeller pump. The engine has to be running and the impeller will try to pump water but the valve will be closed. Can this damage the impeller?

    Ok, thank you! I honestly believe it's more work to hang off the the swim platform with the muffs every time I've used the boat. I can easily put together some hoses and valves and just plug the slip's garden hose to it.

    Yes I assumed pushing water through the impeller while it wasnt running, was impossible. So my idea was to attach the pump to the hose coming from the sterndrive impeller, thus bypassing the impeller.

    Im sorry to the wildly experienced Bluetooth dude, but I will also have to dig up this 25 year old post. Did you build this garden hose flush system? Did it work? Im currently in the process of buying a second hand boat with 4.3efi.
