    lift cylinder issue

    the lift cylinder has slowed down alot and sounds like its failing, its on a 1997 mercury 250 if I put the motor all the way up and open the fluid port what am I lookingfor? is it going to make a mess? just trying to see if it’s an easy fix before I call in a mechanic. thanks!
