    Evinrude lower skirt removal

    Hi all I’m trying to remove the lower cover (clamshell skirt) on a 1996 40 hp to replace the power pack. Got 3 screws (1 front & 2 rear) from behind latches and 2 bolts from stbd block arm.     How To Determine Shaft Length

    Does anyone know how to decipher shaft length from early (1970’s) 70 hp engines ? Same year and HP end with a (2) or a (3). And significant weight differences (under 210 # to 230 #}. Replacing a 1970 60hp and trying to stay close to 208#. Thanks
