    1995 Mercury 60 hp starting problems

    Just bought a new starter and solenoid to solve a starter that was not engaging with the drive gear. The new one is doing the same thing...it turns fast but does not lift high enough to engage the gear....the wiring was getting hot do to some kind of miswire problem........I cleared the short...
