    Yes so am I, I am going to resistance check all the wiring associated with the regulator/rectifier and battery circuit but I suspect it's fine as its all new. Maybe there is a bad earth connection on the solenoid terminal I will clean them up and hopefully find out why there is a voltage loss.

    For anyone having this issue I ended up checking the wiring and I had cylinder one and three wires mixed around on the trigger. Amazing it could even run like that.

    I tried rotating the stator in three seperate positions, it made no difference to the timing. I ended up buying a second hand mercury trigger and it fixed the problem. Guess it was a dodgey aftermarket trigger.

    Yea that's what I did to figure out what holes the screws were in, although it could still be in the wrong position. It's a no name one from china but looks identical to cdi electronics, probably the same. Okay thanks I'll try one hole clockwise and report back. Appreciate the help.
