If the problem started after work was done have we doubled checked the work?
It would seem strange a "new" problem pops up after new work was done.

Looking at the plug and your fuel pressures. I will assume you were running lean and or too much timing.
Once you pull the head I am sure you will find piston damage. Prob melted piston to the 1st ring. Also, you might find some burned exhaust valves,
This may explain the overheat problem as...

So what happened was. I was getting some water in the drive. I decided to reseal the carrier bearing housing since it was easy to get to.

Do you have a fitting to flush the engine?
If your engine doesn't have a t-stat or a poppit valve. I would run it and watch the flow from the pee hole.
Every time a look up a OE part number I end using many different engine numbers to find the correct part.
This engine is like someone built it from 10 different engines!
I am looking to replace the lower unit on this.
Looking at mercury parts online

Is it fouled from oil or too much fuel?
If the fuel is good on the new boat it could be oil getting into a place it shouldn't be in.
If you took you car and turned it upside the oil with go to the forbidden areas via gravity.
If it ran fine before the swap then it shouldn't be a engine prob...
Just for fun question. The reason I did a rebuild was the reed block on 3 and 4 broke the dowel pin and moved so the rod hit the reed "stops".
I bought a new reed block and the dowel hole in the engine block had a nice grove from the reed block moving around.
Sometimes that engine did have a...
I pulled the pump off with the line connected. About 24 hrs later oil started leaking out between the shaft and the seal.
This problem has been bothering for so many years!
I ordered a new pump since the org one is about 30 years old.
Looks like the seal should be replaceable...
Thank you guys...
