I did some more digging today... my heads match the 267 block (also found out they share the same intake/exhaust valves as original 307 block, 1.72/1.50 respectively), however, my intake manifold is from a 1980 350 / Z28 Camaro engine .. hence the EGR valve and other signs...

    @makomark - looking at Han’s pics on FB, I noticed he has meshed gears rather than a timing chain. Do you know, was this common on 305s out of the factory or likely a mod?

    Thanks! Unfortunately they're a little difficult to find in the UK. I've ended up biting the bullet and purchasing a can of OEM Crusader Blue from a marine shop in Europe. It wasn't any more expensive than VHT alternatives and hoping it looks OK so I can find a local paint shop to colour match.

    I thought the same but from looking online all the VP bellhousings / flywheel housings from this era (and certainly when searching for AQ200 series parts) appear to be one piece whereas on my boats setup this external section is bolted on separately. Here's the view from inside.
