    ??? how to remove a gear case?????

    I have a 1968 55hp evinrude electric shift I' have a problem not having forward, I've found small shavings when i drained the oil. I think my problem is in the gear case somewhere, but having trouble getting the gear housing to slide out? I need some guidence in the right direction please help...
