    No Start, No Choke

Was too hasty, didn't make sure the control was fully in neutral to activate the neutral switch. All power working fine. Good reminder to myself to slow down...

    No Start, No Choke

Correction. Electronic choke works at the remote control, ignition not being recognized at remote.

    No Start, No Choke

Fuse fixed the issue. Got it started and running for a little while to warm up, new fuse must have been bad because the motor wouldn't shut off at the key. Shut motor off by reducing RPMs, replaced fuse and functionality has returned again. Must have a short somewhere.

    No Start, No Choke

I didn't even realize there was a fuse hiding in there! Tiny 20a hiding in a connector above the 2 prong connector for stator to power pack on the port side. Thanks guys. Will replace and update if problem is solved

    No Start, No Choke

Sorry forgot to mention that it is a 1978 Evinrude 115hp, I will check the 20 amp fuse tomorrow when its light out. That would be closer to the battery? There are no fuses on the motor

    No Start, No Choke

Hi all, Trying to figure out why the motor isn't cranking (No crank, electronic choke does not engage). Checked the continuity per shop manual at key switch in remote control, checked for power at starter and solenoid, and at neutral switch, all showing appropriate voltage and continuity...

    Shoukd I replace water jacket gaskets, 1978 115hp 115893c

I was told even compression was more important than the actual values, where should a 78 115h motor be sitting?

    Shoukd I replace water jacket gaskets, 1978 115hp 115893c

Compression was fairly even on all cylinders, though this was taken with the motor cold (I know there are varying schools of thought on warm vs cold reads) Cyl 1 - 100PSI Cyl 3 - 105PSI Cyl 2 - 100 PSI Cyl 4 - 105 PSI I was not aware of piston ring breakage - I am fairly new to the boat...

    Shoukd I replace water jacket gaskets, 1978 115hp 115893c

Hi Racer, Thank you for the input - do you think I should replace the water jacket gaskets as well? Or if there are no leaks present they should be fine?

    Shoukd I replace water jacket gaskets, 1978 115hp 115893c

Hi all, Ive been going through repairing and maintaining service items on my 1978 Evinrude 115hp, model 115893c, and have found that I've got a leak in the head gasket on the port bank of cylinders, specifically cylinder 4. Ive got the replacement gaskets (doing both banks) and have cleaned...
