    Thermostat Gaskets

Jack, do you have any idea what purpose the small round brass grommets on the bottom gasket serve? Are they supposed to act like drain holes of some sort? Where they meet up with the intake manifold the holes are plugged up.

    Thermostat Gaskets

Hi. I'm installing a new thermostat onto my 1988 5.7. When I took it apart, there was no thermostat, and no gaskets, just RTV sealant. I'm wondering if I need to use any sort of gasket sealer on the new gaskets. I have all the parts, thermostat (160 degrees), gaskets, O ring, and the plastic...

    What Generation Alpha

I did go through the host site, but I could not find a listing for the water pump kit. I did find a Sierra water pump kit on Amazon, which I ordered. The part number for the kit is 18-3320. Also, being in Canada means that I face longer delivery times for parts ordered from Marine Engine, as...

    Primary Metering Rod Retainer Spring

I have ordered a new one from E Bay. I did price them out at other dealers, but the shipping was crazy for such a small item. BTW, I'm in Canada.

    Primary Metering Rod Retainer Spring

I'm wondering how critical this part is? I took my Rochester carb apart for cleaning and a rebuild, and this spring is totally bent out of shape. Can I run the carb without it?

    Alpha One remote controls

Sorry. He cut the trim wires long enough that they run to the front of the engine. I can't find any buried in the side of the boat with all the other wires. I'll just splice into them using heat shrink tubing.

    Alpha One remote controls

He didn't cut the switch wires in the handle, he just had the pins going into the wrong terminals.

    Alpha One remote controls

I've ordered a set of aftermarket senders. I'm not worried about trying to run the new wires though the transom, I'll cut the wires then use good heat shrink connectors to join them. Just for reference, the aftermarket set is 1/4 the price of Mercury parts. I'm a bit confused by the tilt limiter...

    Alpha One remote controls

OK, I pulled the handle apart today. Some owner at one time had messed up the wires going to the switches. He had the purple wire feeding to the blue wire, which gave me up trim on both the up and down trim buttons, Now I need to order both the trim limit switch and trim sender.

Yes, this is all at the pump. I haven't pulled the shifter handle apart yet. That will be next on the list.
