What is model year, Merc 9.8 hp ?

What is model year, Merc 9.8 hp serial number on clamp is 3797429, cowling has 3 stripes that look like hockey sticks over the word MERCURY. Where can I get an owners manual? TIA

Thank you, I bought it for $100 and it runs pretty good. The guy said it had been sitting for a year and a half so I'll probably get the carb rebuilt and a new impeller put in. Do you have any idea about an owner's manual?

I have a Mercury 9.8 with Thunderbolt Ignition, serial number 6196807. Can anyone tell me what year it is? I'm thinking late 70's?
