Looking for correct lower unit oil for my mariner 9.9 outboard. Also wanted to know if you drain oil and replace bottom oil screw and fill lower unit till it comes out top screw hole and that's full. Been awhile since I've had to change it myself and that's how I had remembered doing it on a different outboard I had. Thanks in advance for help on this!

check your owner's manual for the details...quicksilver premium gear lube should be fine...get a couple tubes and you should be fine. your procedure is correct...just make sure the sealing washers on the screws are in good shape.

while you are at it, greasing the prop shaft is likely due as well as a water pump kit...

Thanks for your reply. Yeah thats the problem I don't have the owners manual. I was seeing 90 weight oil but wanted to make sure that's correct. I had done a water pump kit replacement last fall. Thanks for your time and suggestions!

If you get the quicksilver recommendation, it will have proper visocity and have the correct additives...some things aren't worth saving a buck on...
