1994 Mercury 40 HP 2 stroke 4 cyl (lower unit flat washer between reverse gear and bearing carrier).

I had to take the carrier in to get the reverse gear off the old so I could put it on the new. Problem is when returned to me all parts were lose. The flat washer has a bevel on one side and I don't know if the bevel should be on the carrier side or the reverse side. Stuck until I know. Thanks if you can help.

Found what I was looking for in a 1996 manual. Called a Thrust washer, not flat washer. "a - Thrust Washer (Beveled Side Toward Gear)". Moving forward again. Thank you.
