Ignition coil

Mercury 40 have big foot o/be
When I try to start motor, it blows the ignition coil circuit fuse, it starts & runs a few seconds, then blows fuse

Does the engine then stop when the fuse blows?
How many amp fuse?
How many fuses on your engine?? I'm thinking that something else attached to the circuit (i.e. Rectifier/voltage regulator or boat side circuits) are blowing the fuse.
Try to disconnect and isolate and re try - do NOT put in a larger fuse .....
