5.0 V8 carb 220 hp FLAME ARRESTOR upgrade

Hi guys, I'm going to upgrade my flame arrestor with a bigger one. My engine is a 5.0 V8 carbureted engine and I'd like to install a K&N flame arrestor.
The advised one for my engine is this: http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?prod=59-3364 this has a 2.75" height element.
This one (not for my engine) is the same of the previous but with a 5.0" element http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?prod=59-3370
What do you think abuout a flame arrestor with a velocity stack?

Do you think a 5.0" element (not depending if with or without velocity stack) is too bigger for my engine? Can I cause any issues if I install a flame arrestor too big for my engine?

Can I cause any issues if I install a flame arrestor too big for my engine?
Only if you try to stop the flames from escaping from the engine thru the flame arrestor.
