What prop and hard start when cold. 50 hp 1984

Just got my motor running on all 4 cylinders and it feels like it runs at half power. If I go to full throttle, it sounds like it is over revving. I was lucky to get 12 mph at 3/4 throttle. The prop has numbers 4x10x13

When starting, it cranks a lot and starts when i give it full throttle. I noticed gas spots in the water when it started. When running at idle, it sound like it wants to die like the idle is too low.

Are you sure it is running on all 4 cylinders? What color are the spark plugs? They should be medium to dark brown. Verify the spark will jump a 7/16" gap w/a gap tester...buy one or make one so you can see all 4 sparks at one time to compare. When were the carbs last cleaned by soaking them overnight?

Some time ago you said that a mechanic had it running the way a 50 HP should run.--Perhaps a follow-up visit is needed.

Ok, I put a new prop on the motor and got 20 mph! Getting better! It pulled very hard to the right and I noticed the "anode?" Off center to the left. So I adjusted it straight and will test run it again tomorrow!

That's called the 'trim tab' and, yes, it can reduce that pulling to one side (at certain speeds only, however).

What size boat is this?
