I kave a 5.7 omc cobra that I started for the first time since last fall

and I had to add gasoline to the carb to get it started and after setting the dwell and etc. I let it idle for awhile and then shut it down this was about a week ago, the Mississippi is down now so I am putting the boat in this week so last sat I thought I would start it to make sure when I launch it that it would run but after pumping the throttle for awhile with no results I added some fuel in the carb and it started right up, I never had this problem before so was just wondering if I have a fuel problem ?
 
common for the plugs on the bottom of Rochester 4V carbs to drip fuel. In a week the float bowl can be empty. If the underside is wet, JB weld over the plugs usually cures it.

could also be a choke issue or accel pump
 
IF YOU CAN....AVOID THE JB WELD !! there is a foam sponge/gasket that is made to fit in the space underneath the plugs. any serious shop that sells carb rebuild kits will know what you want and have them. you do not have to tear apart the entire carb to install it. just remove the base plate.......it is very simple and straight forward.

Hystat thank you for the information about the plugs, since I am no mechanic but I can try, do I have to remove the carb from the manifold to get at the Plugs or is there another procedure, and I have some marine Tex I beleive that would stop the leak once I get to the plugs, is there 3 or 4 plugs?
 
Here is a little tip when I needed to put my screw holder(for like of a better name) in I used a flat file and some two side tape running the tape the long way so as not to break and leave tape in port, placed metal piece flat against file lined them up and bingo first try. Now I will service the u-joint inspect everything and reassembly. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would say the degree of difficulty is a 5.
