Hey folks,
I recently took my boat offshore and for the first 2 hours it ran great. Then, it started bogging down as if it were running out of fuel. We made it to the rigs, fished for the day (never turning the motor off) and when we started back home, it ran great for about 1.5 hours, then started starving for fuel again, coming off a plane due to lack of power. I went the the primer bulb and as long as I pumped it, the boat ran great. No kinks in the fuel line. I recently replaced all fuel lines from tank to each individual carb. The fuel is new. I also rebuilt all carbs 2 weeks ago. I figured since constant pressure made it the motor run well, I placed an electric fuel pump ( about 4 psi) just to try and finish a 3 day fishing trip. First 15 miles, ran great! Then, it went back to running like crap again. I bypassed the fuel separator just to see if the restriction was there. It wasn't. I disconnected the line that splices into the VRO oil line just prior to the fuel pump, hooked up the electric fuel pump and it pumped a steady stream of fuel. The filter just past the pump is brand new, as well as all the fuel lines. All I can think of is that the pump has taken a dump. Before I invest on a new pump, is there anything you all think I may need to check before purchasing a new pump? Thanks,
Brad
