Hello,

Helping neighbor with outboard. Looking for repair manual
Engine family: 5ymxm.1972ga
S/n 1001284
Tag says mnfgr date 09/04

Owner had new carb put on by mexhanic but motor wont idle. Trying to find how to set linkage for idle.

The numbers and letters are not making sense to me.

What markings do you see on the carburetor(s) or the CDI box?

Is it a two stroke, is it a four stroke, is the horse power not known?

If you can see the tag number on the block why can the carburetor markings or the CDI markings not be seen?

This is really what you should be looking for. But perhaps it is gone.

So owner says he thinks its a 2005 9.9(still cant find any id plate.)

Questions:
1 Should there be a gasket on both sides of plastic spacer that is between carb and engine intake manifold (pic below)? I ask because engine was only running if choke was pulled and would rev up when choke pulled at idle(when we could get it to idle)

2. In pic below, is plastic spacer oriented correctly. Looks like there is a cut out matching body of carb.

3. Checking float height, manual i looked at says 14mm from body of carb to top of float. This is way off. Not sure if 14mm is correct for this carb.

Looks to be a 2005 F8 or T8. Difference being the T8 has a different gear case.

If so, service manual is LIT-18616-02-19.

Parts catalog shows a gasket on either side of what Yamaha calls an insulator.

Thank you very much. Things totally make sense now that i look at the t8/f8 manuals. Dingy is running great now
