Yamaha F80, engine breaks down over 2000 rpm

when engine gets warm , engine breaks down over 2000 rpm with no power , under 2000 is ok ,
I think electrical because I see tacho flicker as the engine falters. appreciate any clues
 
Are there any caution or warning lights in the boat?

An over temperature or low oil pressure event will cause the CDI box to limit the RPM to around 2000.
