Yamaha 9.9 Kicker RPM changes when turning

When I turn one way the RPM increases, when I turn the other it decreases. I want to fix this, if possible. Is this something as easy as replacing the cable or making some adjustments somewhere or is this a "known" thing with kickers?

I have a separate outboard remote control box for my main and kicker motor. Kicker is tied to the main motor for steering as well.

sounds like the remote throttle cable is binding....is this a 'new feature' that just started happening?

It's a new to me boat - 2013. The past owner hardly used the kicker.

that helps...very possible that the remote cables on the kicker were not installed with enough 'slack'....
