Wiring issue 50HP

I have a 50HP Johnson Evinrude outboard The key does absolutely nothing if you turn it , but does kill the engine when you turn it off. If I connect a small wire from the positive from battery on the solenoid to the positive from controller on the solenoid , it starts right up. As in this video - https://youtu.be/UmDXhSgTUVo
Am I correct in saying that there is a break in the wire from the controller to the solenoid ? any help appreciated I’m not sure where to look for the issue here.

Is that the one in- line on the wire leading to the small positive post on the solenoid ? The metal inside looks slightly bent but not broken, is there a way I can check it without a multimeter ?

Sure, simply try a new one, they don't cost much. But of course whatever blew the first one might also blow the second one.
