Will hotter plugs cure stall at idle problem in 1998 Mercury 175 EFI?

The standard NGK b8uh plugs have been replaced yearly but seem to foul out when I start up and or try to shift it into gear. Appears to be getting fussier at starting. Otherwise runs fantastic!Will the next heat range higher help? What would that plug be? please help, i don't dare take any company with me because I could be stranded out on the river!

Your issue is not the plugs,Start with compression test followed by spark test and fuel diagnostics. Fouled plugs is a sign of too much fuel,rich condition or insufficient spark.
