which to use? Aluminum anode or magnesium?

I was at the parts store the other day and noticed the anode kits. One was aluminum ($47) and the other magnesium ($108). Can one be used in both salt and freshwater? I mainly use the boat in freshwater and may consider taking it to the Saltwater maybe once in a blue moon. Can the aluminum be used in freshwater? The ones I have on now do not have the trim tab. Would it be better to get the anode with the trim tab? 95 bayliner 2050 5.0L Alpha One.

If you can put them on tabs go ahead.
If you are boating and leaving boat in fresh water you need magnesium.Salt=zinc. salt and fresh water (brackish)=aluminum. You can get what you need online alot cheaper.
