Whats the correct way to lay a 3.5 4stroke down?

I just bought a used 2011 3.5 Hp 4 stroke Mercury outboard. The person I bought it from said that when I lay the motor down I need to make sure that the tiller handle is down and the Carb is in the up position because when he transported the way the owners manual shows oil leaked out of the Carb.

Anyone else have this problem?

Just seems wrong to me to lay the motor on the tiller handle.

Some would say below the ground, but...

You need to check your manual, or a dealer, on this. Important! One way wrecks that cheapo plastic shifter; the other lets the sump oil drain out.

I recall seeing decals on the motor explaining this. Is yours worn away?
