I have a pair of Merc 60s 4 strokes.
While connecting my batteries I crossed briefly Pos and Neg and produced a 'pop'. I don't think I blew anything in the engines themselves because I am able to get each engine to crank. But the boat isn't in the water and I don't have an easy way to run a hose for a cup so all I could do was a quick turn of the switch to confirm each was getting power.
Again -- both engines responded. However, only one of them sound that 'beep' that signals the key has been turn. Shouldn't both engines produce that (pre-ignition) tone? Or does the beep indicate an error condition?
