"A good shop would ask you how you use your motor and when it was last serviced. Now the water pump impeller should be replaced on a regular basis ( every 3 years or so ), compression should be checked and recorded for you.Spark should be checked on each cylinder. Oil should be drained and lower unit pressure tested and resealed if leaks or water is present.Lubricate all moving linkages. Running of the motor and an expert saying " there it is good " is most important. Most people can only say " it is running so what can be wrong with it " and find out thru the wallet that there was something wrong that should have been fixed. Some shops have a dynomometer and a report on what the actual power output is is helpful."

Fasteners especially head bolt

Fasteners especially head bolts should be checked and retorqued if needed.
