"Pierre, you didn't include your model year but OMC has been very consistent with their 70 horse motors from the 70's well thru the 90's.

So unless it is "really new" the Wide Open Throttle (WOT) range for the motor is between 5000-6000 RPM.

The optimum is usually about 250 rpm or so below the absolute max, so you should be shooting for 5700-5750 at full throttle. However, as long as you are getting into the range 5k-6k your engine should be running as designed..."
