What is the correct way to change the oil in the upper portion of 1967 OMC sterndrive

We’ve been in a drought for years so no lakes to take a boat, but the drought is over and lakes are full. I can’t find my manual. While servicing my 1967, I can’t remember exactly how to change the oil in the upper portion. The stern drive has two fill/drain screws on the left side, one higher on the right side and one at the very top. At least one YouTuber (not an OMC) made a big deal about not overfilling because it will ruin stuff. I know to drain the lower one on the left side and fill with a pump thru the bottom until the oil comes out of the top hole on the left side. Can I safely do the same for the other hole on the right side pumping until it comes out of the top hole ?
Thanks for any help.

Yes, make sure your dipstick is sitting one thread in only. Slowly pump the fluid it, wait between 5-6 minutes to let the fluid settle and continue to pump the fluid in until properly filled
