Water temp sender

i have 1984 3.8 omc and water

i have 1984 3.8 omc and water temp gauge doesnt work any clue where the sender is located ? appreciate any feedback

"See item # 40 in the diagram, should be close to the front on top of the intake manifold. You can also test the gauge before you change the sender. If the gauge doesn't move at all then with the key on make sure you have 12v on the I terminal of the gauge and a good ground. Then take off the wire from the sender on the S terminal and use a short jumper wire to go from ground to the S terminal, the gauge should peg all the way to the right, if it does then it's ok and either the sender is bad or you have a broken signal wire between the sender and gauge.
