Water Pump Pulley Removal

"Looking for information on removing a water pump pulley that is spoked and has a metal ring in the center that is bolted to it.

It looks like a cast, spoked wheel.

Will try to upload a pic.

The hub of the spoked part partially blocks the water pump bolts so apparently the pulley has to be removed before the pump will come off.

This one has been attached for a long time - rust included - and I don't want to break it by guessing at how to remove it.

Thanks

Mark

The pulley is using a Browning

The pulley is using a Browning Taper Lock hub. Remove the two bolts and install them in the two tapped holes. Gently apply torque to the bolts until the hub separates from the pulley. I would recommend using a chisel to help break the bond by setting it between the hub flange and pulley and striking it with a hammer. Of coarse use plenty of penetrating oil and patience!

Thanks again. That's pretty slick.

The tapped holes were rusted / corroded. Applied penetrating oil to them and the shaft and put the screws in the holes to apply a little pressure this evening and it all started to move.

It's now apart and I can tackle a poorly performing water pump.

Thanks again.
