"I have a 2001 F100. Last fall it was making oil. Lots of it. I had it checked and the mechanic said the engine temp was not coming up. They replaced the t-stat and said it was now warming up.
I took the boat out a couple of days ago and trolled for about 1 1/2 hours, no problem and the water outlet was pumping fine and the temp of the water was warmer then I had ever had it (I have only had this boat for 1 year). We went to anchor and were just at an idle fighting the waves to put down the anchor when I had a steady beeeep coming from the consol. I had to run the engine for about 1 minute then shut it down. I started it back up right away and no beep. This did it again the next time we moved to reset the anchor.
The only time the alarm went off was when I was at an idle. I checked the water coming out of the engine and it was warm and it seemed to have good pressure. I called the mechanic back and talked with him. He said I may need to replace the water pump. Oil looked fine.
I wanted to get some other opinons before I did this. What do you guys think?"
