"Hi Team.

Just started my o

"Hi Team.

Just started my outboard first time in 7 months.

Ran for 3 mins (fast idle for some reason)then steam began emanating from the water from pee hole (obviously HOT). Then, no water at all came through and then spits and spats.

I am scared some daamge has now been done.

I have the 1989 110HP 2 stroke Johnson.

PLease advise your thoughts?

"Pull the lower unit and check

"Pull the lower unit and check/change the impeller, then run in a barrel or at sea!!!
If lucky You did not blow the head-gaskets. Just double check the torque on the head bolts that non are 'loose'. (back off 1/4 and then torque each bolt to spec)."

I will run at sea shortly.

I have tried running motor again with muffs and all seems well with good flow from pee-hole and without steam.

But, I will check head bolt torque as well.

If head gaskets are blown, what woudl the symptoms be?

Pull the plugs and check for a

Pull the plugs and check for any white deposits or whitish plugs. They should have 'normal' light brown color.

WHen you say normal brown colour - where exaclty on the plug should it be brown?

All pugs tips are wet (fuel/oil mixture) - your thoughts on this?

"The insulator part of the plugs should be slightly brownish, depending on the usage time. Install them back, check the head bolts and start. Then if possible do a run under load. At least You know the alarm system works!"
