Water in tilt gear housing

Doing repairs on my tilt gear. Broke the worm gear shaft. Found intrusion of water in gear oilo. Want to flush out gear housing and refill with new gear oil. What can I use before refilling with new oil. Thank You for any info on this matter. Island Boy.........

Brake cleaner in a can. Completely dismantle the tilt gear housing.

When you get it all back togeher fill the case with grease same as you use in wheel bearings.

I made up a zerk for my case.
