So my boat thermo locked and never mixed the oil and water but it did have about 1/2 quart of water in the bottom of the pan . I pulled the plugs to do a cylinder test to find where it might be bad and water came out of 3 and 6. It is a 4.3 mercruiser, do I need to do any other checks or just figure both head gaskets are blown and start tearing it down?

went ahead and did compression test all cylinders checked out at 121. the only difference was that cylinder 6 it spit out more water and was only 120. so now what?

It may be fine, happened to a buddys boat after a sudden stop, the pressure wave slammed into the rear of the boat, went straight up the outdrive exhausts & into a few cylinders.
So there may be an issue with the exhaust flappers in his case.

that was a few years ago, hasnt happened since.
It is a gen 2 Alpha 1 350V8, same set up as yours.
