Vro conversion. 89 evinrude 175

Model # ending in txceb. I recently attempted a vro pump to regular fuel pump conversion. Motor started up before the switch but not after. The pump i bought i bought by part number so should have been right. It clearly pumped gas. After realizing it wasn't starting i swapped back to vro pump. It started working again. Just looking for peoples knowledge

The early V-6 used 2 fuel pumps ( in series ) running from 2 different crankcases.-----If you used the primer bulb to fill the carburetors.------ And if there was a pressure supply to the electric primer valve the motor should start and run.-----You are pushing the key in and holding it in while cranking it over ?----And post the compression values on this crossflow motor .------How did it run last season for you.-----What part # pump did you try ?
