Volvo Penta battery drain no start---corrosion 2007 5.7

I have the following engine:
Engine - 2000 model year - 5.7 gsi pefs

The engine turns over but will not start.

Ran perfect last Monday when I docked it.

Battery keep’s draining even with battery switch turned off??

Replaced plugs and appear to get spark-- not blue but a spark to engine block

Tried 3 different fuel cells—

Checked fuses

Could some corrosion issue cause batteries to drain-- when battery system turned off?

Could this cause the engine to turn over and not start?

Thanks

Kevin

Re: Volvo Penta battery drain no start---corrosion

Check battery voltage using a multimeter when it is on the charger and when it is at rest. On charger should be 13.2-14.6. At rest should be above 12, like 12.2-12.5 at least. If it is below 12 the battery is dead. A load test at an auto parts store will confirm.
Try a known good battery to start it. When running engine should be charging at about 13.2 at idle, 14.4 at full scream.
A weak battery will not hold a full charge for long especially one you're cranking away with trying to start an engine. Hope your boat is equipped with a least a second reserve battery.

Re: Volvo Penta battery drain no start---corrosion

I plug it into shore power to charge bateries - turn off-- everything and they are dead---

took to peb boys-- tested said both batteries were good

could something be preventing a charge? corrosion?

not starting eitther-- even when turning over strong

Check your grounds. Probably loose/dirty/not making good contact.

Re: Volvo Penta battery drain no start---corrosion

Thanks-- that was my next step--- could that?

1. cuase the engine not to start even if it turns over well, gets spark and fuel pumps are working?

2. COuld that drain a battery even with all turned off?

thanks again
