Volvo Penta 5.7 GXI, DPS plain problem

hello. can some one please help me. I have a problem to plain with my Bavaria sport 27 boat. The engine is Volvo Penta 5.7 GXI, DPS. The engine goes normal to 3400 RPM and this a little before to get plain (speed is 19mph), then engine quickly turns to 3900 RPM and the speeds stay at 19mph. What could be a problems?

The sliding sleeve and gear cup rarely slip on one another.

Any damage to either propeller?

Is the hull clean?
In other words..... could you have enough marine growth building up on the bottom that would prevent the hull from planing?


And yes.... if the rubber hubbed drive coupler has gone bad, the engine will either need to be removed, or slid forward and turned sideways, in order to access it.

Be sure to properly diagnose this before haphazardly replacing parts.
