Violent bang going into forward and reverse

My Volvo Penta 1994 DP-C1, has a loud bang, going into forward. Reverse bangs, not as bad. The shifting cone has been replaced, all shims are in intolerance. My RPM is around 600. Any ideas? Thanks Mike
 
Hi

For starters.

Make sure your idle speed is set correctly. Try to set it as low as possible without stalling.

This might not be achievable with a computer controlled motor.

Check the drive lube for water and make sure you are using the correct 75w90 GL5 synthetic lube without limited slip additive.
