Vintage Mercruiser 4 Cylinder Stern Drive 165 120

We have purchased a 1965 Glastron that has a 120 MerCruiser motor GM Block. What we are trying to find out is if we have a model 1 with flush plug or is it a model 1 without flush plug sterndrive. We have an overheating issue and we are replacing the impeller. Is there anything else we should replace with it??? Any help here would be greatly appreciated as we are auto enthusiast and we are clueless. Thank you in advance for your understanding in our ignorance.

New thermostat can't hurt it. Check the water circulating pump shaft for breakage. Check for loose or slipping belt. Check the OD water inlet hose for kinks. If the impeller is NOT intact backflush from the thermostat housing to get the rubber peices out. Remove the water inlet hose at the inside of the stern when backflushing the hose. Inspect the OD water pass thru where you removed the hose for corrosion causing it to narrow and also backflush the OD from that point.

New thermostat, check circulating pump shaft for breakage, replace hardened belt, backflush water inlet hose from thermostat housing if impeller is not intact, inspect gimbal OD water passage from inside the stern where water hose from thermostat attaches--it can corrode shut, inspect OD water hose to the gimbal for kinks.
