I have just bought a 1991 invader 240 which has had some engine issues. I intend on fixing these issue but plan on getting a out board as back up.
Will mainly be on lochness in scotland

can anyone recommend a good reliable outboard ?

The MOST reliable outboard I know of is the twin cylinder, single carburetor Honda BF20D. Of ANY year model. Pound for pound the most BULLETPROOF thing on the water since the venerable Detroit Diesel 6-71 (for big boats only).

It would probably make a fine auxiliary for your Invader. The electric start with trim tilt options makes it a real peach to deploy and operate.

Stick with the recommended maintenance and RELIGIOUSLY keep the carburetor drained (using the drain screw provided by Honda) and you will never have a reason to do anything but sing it's praises.

Good luck
