trimming effect on cruising speed

My volvo 270 outlive is attached to a good running aq125a. This outdrive can be trimmed up and down electrically from the console. For cruising, is it best to have the outdrive all the way down or should I be trimming it up some?

Your 270 drive (unless an older T drive) is not fitted with power trim.
This unit is a "Lift-Out" device ONLY.
Do NOT power up with the drive raised. You will damage the vice rod, and perhaps other things.

Use the "set pin" location to adjust fixed trim (center location usually works).

If you have hydraulic Trim Tabs, use them as well.

Ditto what Ricardo said. If you want a little more top end speed, try putting the set pin in the hole furthest from the transom. You get a little more bow lift and consequently less drag. YMMV however depending upon your setup.
