Hello I am in the porocess of replacing my stator in a 1985 Merc 35hp 2 stroke and would like to test the trigger while apart. I have looked for info on this but have had no luck on this particular engine. If possible could someone explain the process to me either leaving it on motor or removing and doing a bench test?

No need to remove the trigger, just disconnect the wires from the switch-box to test. I don't have the values for you though,sorry.

between the brown/yellow and brown/white 750 to 1400 ohms.brown/yellow to ground,open.between brown/white to ground,open.

If you have the flywheel off, check the wire carefully for the insulation cracking. Wires are over 30 yrs old.
