transporting 6.0 4 stroke

Have an opportunity to get a nice 6 hp 4 stroke merc for $750, but need to transport it by car. Did a search here on the subject, and there were a couple of threads on 2 and 4 hp models from 2009. They suggested running it at idle, then shut off the fuel until it quits. I'm thinking I need to drain the motor oil, too, so it won't seep into the combustion chamber. Any other advice? Thanks!

Drain the gas, not the oil.

There's a side of the motor it is supposed to be lying on in transport. You need to research and see which one.

Most manuals have instructions on how to lay them down.------Many motors have decals showing this as well.
