Transom help (sorry if this isn't allowed)

I recently bought a 20ft smokercraft pontoon. It had a 1996 40hp longshaft force when I purchased it, but I wanted more so I found a 1985 75hp for a decent price also a longshaft. Now the transom only measures 15 inches (short shaft) but they already had a long shaft on there! So I thought no problem. I went to mount it today and ran into a couple things, the plate is going to over hang/drag lower than the transom. Also the top bracket of the transom plate is wider than the 40hp and wider than the transom of course. Would a piece of 2x4 fix the thickness issue? Any issue with the plate being bigger than the transom itself?

You can bolt on a motor mounting plate to the transom and then bolt the motor to it.

I've never seen a 15" transom on a pontoon boat, please attach a picture please with the tape measure showing the height.

Here's what you need, I've been using these jack plates for 30 years, You can make up that height issue. Still strange to see a 15" transom on that toon!

Well call them and find out when they will have them, they are the manufacturer and have been making them for many many years.
