Transmission swap

I just removed 2 Crusader 454 model 350 (blown) from my 390 sea ray, 1:91.1 transmissions. I have a pair of 1989 Crusaders, 454 model 350 I removed from a 34 Silverton convertable, complete with transmission, but the transmissions are 1:52.1, I can swap out the transmission from my orginal engines, but was considering keeping. I am not sure if the lower ratio will allow the engines to work at their RPM, but was looking more at better fuel usage. Looking for any opions on this.

Actually the 1.52:1 are a higher ratio. If you use the 1.52:1 you will have to take some pitch out of the wheels.

I would bet you will be much happier with the 1.91 gears on a boat that heavy...the engines will benefit as well

As noted, depends upon the bottom configuration and the props. I run 1:52s on a 25,000# Uniflite with 17 x 17 cupped props with 330/454s. Reaches max rpms with clean bottom and light load.
